For this project, I set out to design an opening title sequence for a hypothetical series adaptation of Cloud Atlas, using a collage-based approach to reflect the novel’s layered and interwoven narratives. The creative process began with extensive visual research, gathering textures, archival imagery, and symbolic motifs that echoed the story’s themes of reincarnation, interconnectedness, and the cyclical nature of time. I then assembled these elements into intricate compositions, carefully balancing abstraction and storytelling to evoke the shifting eras and perspectives present in the source material.

Each collage was animated to create a fluid and dreamlike progression, allowing the viewer to transition seamlessly between timelines while maintaining a cohesive visual identity. This method not only celebrated the tactile aesthetic of handmade collage but also offered a poetic way to mirror the complex structure of Cloud Atlas. Through this process, I sought to craft an opening sequence that felt evocative and immersive, serving as an invitation into a universe where every story resonates with the echo of another.
